ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A woman took 30 prescription pills, apparently as part of a suicide attempt, and walked off into the woods near her home in Rochester Hills Monday night, her husband told Oakland County sheriffs deputies when they arrived.

Sheriffs officials say the woman fled into a wooded area near the residence in an attempt to commit suicide, according to a statement. The caller advised that his wife had recently made suicidal statements to him and that she has been exhibiting signs of depression for the past five days.

Police couldnt initially find the 53-year-old suicidal woman and called for a K-9 unit.

The woman observed the K-9 working his way towards her and attempted to run back into the home, sheriffs officials say. The subject was detained by deputies while she continued to make suicidal statements to them.

Rochester Hills Fire Department paramedics transported the woman to hospital for treatment and a psychological evaluation.
